Coming Out Story - Nathan

I came out on television my freshman year at Indiana University. I had written a letter to the Oprah Winfrey show in high school (my junior year) as I battled with my sexuality. I had face much depression and sadness. In and out of hospitals, etc… After seeing one of Oprah's shows after two years of sadness it changed my life. The show literally made me realize the importance of my life. I wrote OPrah a "thank you" letter (with no expectations). My freshman year here I received a call in my dorm room from Jack Mohri (director of the Oprah show) asking me to be on TV about my story. I was amazed because they ACTUALLY read my letter (after two years of writing it). So, the very next week, staff from Harpo studios came to IU and recorded me in my room… on campus, etc… and then flew me to Chicago to be on the show. I told my story on TV and truly came out to the work on April 8 all over the world. It was very amazing and I'm VERY proud to be who I am. You can visit the Oprah website and probably find my story (it should be around the 8th of April).

Sincerely,
Nathan S.
