Preventing sexual assault

Going to college can be exciting for many reasons - and as much as women and men miss their families and friends back home, many still look forward to living alone or with friends, and trying out what it feels like to be independent and on their own. That said, one concern that people - perhaps especially women - have when they go to college relates to sexual assault. Though many students have heard about how alcohol or taking drugs can increase the chances of being assaulted or raped, not everyone has heard about the range of tips that one can take to reduce their risk of assault. That's not to say that assault or rape is 100% preventable - it's not, unfortunately - and it is certainly never the victim's fault. However, you might find it helpful to read through these tips for sexual assault prevention for students living on and off campus, available through SaferSex.org's web site.
